Joe Williams, Veteran Service Officer at The American Legion, Lawrence Indiana

 Joe Williams is a Navy veteran (2010–2019) who served in San Diego and later as a Navy recruiter in Chicago. After leaving the service, he worked with the Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF) program helping homeless veterans, before becoming a Department Service Officer with The American Legion. Joe lives in Avon with his wife of 13 years and their five children. 

 Every Wednesday, Joe provides free, one-on-one, confidential assistance with VA benefits, claims, appeals, and COE support at the Lawrence Government Center — a partnership between the City of Lawrence and The American Legion, serving the area's large veteran population near the former Fort Benjamin Harrison
